BUFFALO — A narcotics raid on Chicago Street Tuesday evening turned up a whole lot more, when the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit found not only drugs, but loaded weapons and military-grade explosives.

The raid, performed following a one-month investigation, happened around 6 p.m. at the 181 Chicago Street address, not far from the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino. It turned up about a loaded shotgun, half an ounce of crack cocaine, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia. It also turned up C-4 and a detonating cord. That made ECSO turn to the Buffalo Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Police arrested 28-year-old Luis Garcia-Ramos, charging him with illegal storage of explosives and criminal possession of paraphernalia. Other charges are pending.

Police say a 7-year-old child and the child’s mother were also believed to be living in the Chicago Street home, where the explosives — stored in a closet — were within reach of the child. As such, Child Protective Services were contacted.
