AMHERST — A pair of Daemen College students have been interim suspended over what was described as a “KKK costume” that one wore on campus on Monday.

College President Gary Olsen said in a letter to staff and students that one student, who was not named, added a white hood to a “greek goddess costume” to make it look like a Ku Klux Klan robe, then knocked on another student’s door while wearing the costume.

Olsen said in the letter that he found it “unacceptable” that someone affiliated with Daemen would do such a thing. “To be clear, it is not a joke, and it is against the policies outlined in the Daemen College Student Code of Conduct.”

A second student, who was also named, and reportedly helped the wearer of the costume was also placed on interim suspension while the incident is investigated by Student Affairs.
