Anthony ‘Tony’ E. Catherine, 72, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on October 21, 2023 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Theodore and Helen (Centofanti) Catherine.
Tony was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He was employed for 30 years as a cashier and stock clerk at Rite-Aid Pharmacy on Pine Avenue until his retirement in March 2023. Tony was an avid sports fan, and loved the New York Yankees first and foremost, and also the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Boston Celtics and Buffalo Sabres. He also enjoyed playing scratch-off lottery tickets. Tony was very friendly and selfless, willing to help anyone and everyone. Most of all, he cherished his children and grandchildren and the time they shared together.
Tony is survived by his son, Shannon (Michelle) Catherine and daughter, Tonya Catherine; his grandchildren, Narissa Renford, Trista Catherine, Chloe Catherine, Colin Catherine, Thea Catherine, Marlon Anthony Catherine, and twin grandchildren Kal-El Renford and Naiyera Renford; his best friend, Donna Westerman; his sister, Carla (James) Torrey, the mother of Shannon’s children, Andi Syphers, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was sadly predeceased by his son, Anthony L. Catherine, his twin brother, Theodore ‘Ted’ (Ruby) Catherine, and his sister, Charlene Heller.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28 from 12 – 2 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will be held at 2 PM.
