On September 23, 2023, SP Machias Troopers arrested Gauge M. Nelder, 28, of Friendship, NY for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (With a Child Passenger Less Than 16).
During a traffic stop on State Route 16 in the town of Franklinville, Troopers observed Nelder exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication and determined he had been operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. A child under the age of 16 was a passenger in the vehicle. Nelder failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. He was then arrested and transported to SP Machias, where a chemical breath test revealed him to have a 0.09% BAC.
Nelder was released with appearance tickets for Franklinville Town Court, where he is due to appear in October.
