AKRON, OHIO – The No. 22 ranked Akron Zips topped Niagara men’s soccer in Thursday nights non-conference matchup by the final score of 6-0.

How it Happened
Akron took a 1-0 lead early on in the contest beating Niagara goalie Jamie Barry in the fourth minute of action by knocking home a deflection low center. The Zips would strike again, this time in the 30th minute of action with a one touch goal between Barry and the left side post.

Moments before the end of the half, the Zips would make it a 3-0 ballgame with a ball slotted into the top of the box, narrowly beating the Niagara goalie to the corner.

In the second half, Akron added three more tallies, the first two came in the 56th and 58th minutes, respectively and both from more than 20 yards out.

The final goal of the contest came in the 72nd minute of play, giving the match its 6-0 final.

Niagara’s Felix Kogler, who scored in both of the Purple Eagles exhibitions, nearly made it a 1-1 game in the 28th minute, but the Zip goalie was there for the save. Niagara would take a pair of shots in the second half, the first coming from Kogler in the 69th minute and the final on from Lucas Fenton in the 89th, that was blocked.
