Assuming the photo on the Buffalo Common Council Twitter feed from Thursday is legitimate and there’s no trickery of sunlight, it would appear that someone flew the wrong flag for Saint Patrick’s Day.

A photo posted at 1:14 p.m. Thursday shows City Hall with an American Flag flying at left, and at right, flags representing Ukraine and Italy.

The captain reads, “Looks like the luck of the Irish is with the City of Buffalo today! City officials gathered outside City Hall this afternoon to raise the Flag of Ireland and kick off the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. 🍀”

Based on the comments on the original post and the number of Quote Tweets (145 as of the time of this story), it’s safe to say that the Internet did its thing.
