Saint Paul, Minn.—Two Niagara University hockey student-athletes have been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, presented to the top player in college hockey each season.

Niagara goalie Chad Veltri has been nominated for the award after posting two shutouts this season to become the active leader in shutouts with six in his career. This season he has a 10-7-2 record along with a 2.94 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. This season he has made 30 or more saves in nine games this season. He is currently second among Atlantic Hockey goalies in saves with 2123 in 80 career games. He also has a the second most amount of saves this season.

Ryan Cox is currently second on the team with 18 points while leading the team with nine goals this season. He is currently second among Atlantic Hockey players with seven game winning goals in his career, this season he leads the AHA with three game winning goals. He is also sixth in career goals with 30 career goals in a team high 135 games played. In the faceoff dot, Cox has been one of the best centers in Atlantic Hockey in his career. He has won 874 draws which is the third most in the AHA. His 8.68 wins per game is the best in the conference among players with 110 or more games played.
