OSWEGO, NY – The Buffalo State women’s basketball team dropped their SUNYAC contest with Oswego State tonight by a final score of 64-56 at the Max Ziel Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE

  • Tashawni Cornfield (Gowanda, NY/Putham) led the Bengals with 20 points.
  • Cornfield also paced the team with eight total rebounds.
  • Grace Carey (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) added 10 points of her own.
  • Kirsten Merritt (Cortland, NY/Cortland) and Brianna Smith (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield) each snagged two steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After a Cornfield three-pointer got the scoring started, both teams went back and forth as the score 15-15.
  • Both teams would continue to respond as Buffalo State went into the half up 33-31 after a Cornfield jumper.
  • Oswego State would open the half on a 9-0 run to make the game 40-33.
  • Jadyn Jones (Gowanda, NY/Lake Shore) would later hit both of her free throws to keep things a one possession game as the Bengals entered the final quarter down 45-42.
  • Oswego controlled much of the last 10 minutes as they eventually grew their lead to a game-high 11 points.
  • The Lakers outrebounded the Bengals by a 57-46 margin.

FOR THE FOES

  • Julia Logana recorded a double-double as she scored 13 points and 16 rebounds.
  • Logan Castiglione also had a double-digit night with 11 points.
