BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo State women’s hockey team fell short this afternoon after dropping their contest with SUNY Canton by a final score of 3-2 at the Buffalo State Ice Arena.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE

  • Angelina Cruzal (Campbell, CA/San Jose Jr. Sharks) netted her second goal of the season early in the second period.
  • Bethany Horvatits (Elma, NY/Cazenovia Chiefs) found the back of the net for the second time this year as well.
  • Madi Digges (Madison, AL/St. Louis Blues AAA) and Emma Ramseier (Oak Creek, WI/Milwaukee Jr. Admirals) each earned an assist.
  • Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) made24 saves in the effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Canton got on the board early in the first period on an even strength opportunity.
  • Auge made a clutch save to close out the period to keep the Bengals within striking distance.
  • Early in the second, Cruzal found the back of the net off of the top corner.
  • Later in the second, Horvatits would score her goal on a powerplay opportunity after a Canton penalty.
  • During the final period of play, the Roos scored again to even the score at 2-2.
  • Late in the third, Canton slipped into the net again off of a rebound to take the lead.
  • The Roos’ defense held strong to secure the win despite the pressure from Buffalo State.

FOR THE FOES

  • Hannah Clement, Victoria McGarrity, and Karena Barrett each scored for the Roos.
  • Claire Noftell made 10 saves in goal for Canton.
