NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — After winning a pair of five-set thrillers last weekend, the Niagara Purple Eagles conclude their home schedule this weekend. Niagara hosts Iona on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m. and Manhattan on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
  • Niagara earned a pair of wins in five sets last weekend, defeating Marist on Oct. 20 and Siena on Oct. 21 at home.
  • Against Marist, Jessica Streuer and Jaycie Roberts both had double-doubles. Streuer had a team-high 43 assists and a career-high 17 digs. Roberts had 10 kills and 14 digs.
  • In the win against Siena, Caroline Leitch and Mary Redl both recorded double-doubles. Leitch had 15 digs and 14 kills, while Redl recorded a career-high 17 digs and 12 kills.
  • Streuer had her 11th double-double of the season with 49 assists against Siena. She is averaging 40.7 assists per match in her last 10 matches dating back to Sept. 23.
  • The Purple Eagles are now 5-0 this season in five-set matches.

On the Court: Niagara Purple Eagles (8-14, 8-5 MAAC)
  •  Leitch leads the Purple Eagles in kills, averaging 2.88 kills per set. She is eighth in the MAAC in kills.
  • Streuer leads the team in assists; she has tallied 660 total assists and averages 8.15 assists per set, which is the seventh-best in the MAAC.
  • Two Purple Eagles are among the conference leaders in digs this season. Emillie Wright is seventh in the conference (3.55 per set), while Roberts is currently ninth (3.33 per set).
  • The Purple Eagles are fourth in the MAAC in hitting percentage this season (.187).

Across the Net
Iona Gaels (13-6, 11-1 MAAC)
  • Iona sits in the top three in the conference in all major statistical categories this season. The Gaels are first in opponent hitting percentage (.160), assists per set (13.52), kills per set (14.17) and digs per set (16.61). 
  • Emma Rose leads the conference in assists per set with 11.66, while Claire Archibald leads the conference in both points per set (4.29) and kills per set (3.96).
  • Jessica Paolucci is currently averaging 5.06 digs per set, the second-most in the MAAC.
  • The Purple Eagles lead the all-time series with the Gaels, 27-20, with Iona earning a four-set win in the most recent match earlier this year on Sept. 30.
 
Across the Net 
Manhattan Jaspers (4-20, 2-9 MAAC)
  • Manhattan, who has won four of its last six matches, is coming off a split last weekend. The team earned a four-set win against Quinnipiac last Saturday before falling in straight sets to Fairfield on Sunday.
  • Alyssa Rehrer currently leads the team in digs per set with 4.37, good for fifth among the conference leaders.
  • Two Jaspers are among the conference leaders in service aces per set this season. Sandra Lozanova (0.40) is currently fourth in the MAAC, while teammate Samantha Wagner (0.31) is tied for ninth.
  • Niagara has won the last three matches and four of the last five against Manhattan and holds the edge in the all-time series, 28-19.

  • The Purple Eagles end the regular season with three consecutive road matches. They head to Canisius for the final installment of the Battle of the Bridge on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1:00 p.m., before playing their final two games of the regular season against Fairfield (Nov.10) and Quinnipiac (Nov. 11).
