NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — With the end of the regular season approaching, Niagara University’s cross country teams look to close out their regular season strong when they compete at Cornell in the John Reif Memorial on Oct. 19.

Pre-Race Notes (Women)
  • Nora Klinowski’s time of 18:37.1 at the Canisius Alumni Classic on Oct. 13 surpassed Nicole Mehlman’s2010 finish at the same event, moving Klinowski into the top five all-time 5k finishes in program history.
  • Julia Freemire set a personal collegiate record of 19:43 in a 5k, finishing in the top two for the fourth time this season. Annina Marullo also recorded an identical time of 19:43 for the Purple Eagles.
  • Also setting personal collegiate records at the Canisius Alumni Classic were Julianne Gerritsen (21:11), Casey Roman (21:17), Grace Kibler (21:26) and Emma Bagnato (22:14).
 
Pre-Race Notes (Men)
  • At the Canisius Alumni Classic on Oct. 13, dual-athletes Danny Leskowicz and Justin Sagasta both established new personal records. Leskowicz finished the 8k at 29:41, while Sagasta clocked in at 30:43.
  • Joe Tricarico has come across the finish line first for Niagara on three different occasions this season, most recently at the Canisius Alumni Classic with a time of 27:38.00, a new personal record. Tricarico was also named MAAC Student-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
 
About the Moakley Course

  • This year marks the 32nd rendition of the John Reif Memorial, an event that dates back to 1987.
  • Both teams are competing in the John Reif Memorial for the first time since the 2012 season.
  • Rhace Colon (17:24, sixth overall) and Ryan Lamb (17:36, ninth) both had top 10 finishes for the men’s side at the 2012 edition of the race. The women’s team was led by Kim Vona (20:04).
