UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Having beaten nationally ranked competition in each of the last two weeks, UB’s senior duo of Petr Vodak and Vidit Vaghela have earned a national ranking for the first time in school history.  The pair is ranked 64th in the latest list released on Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
They improved to 10-3 on the season Friday afternoon when they defeated Jack Lin and William Matheson from Columbia, 6-4.  That pair was ranked 34thnationally when the Bulls faced Columbia, and they are 40th in today’s rankings.
Last week, the pair defeated Harvard’s top team of Kenny Tao and Logan Weber, who were ranked 70th nationally.
Vodak and Vaghela become the first UB doubles pair to be nationally ranked, as they are one of 24 doubles teams to go from unranked into the top 90 in today’s poll.
Fans will have their first opportunity to see the nationally ranked duo and the rest of the Bulls as they will host a pair of conference matches this weekend.  The Bulls will face Binghamton on Friday at 4pm and Toledo on Saturday at 1pm.  Both matches will take place at the Miller Tennis Center.
