PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The University at Buffalo track and field team had outstanding performances at the annual Penn Relays hosted by University of Pennsylvania Thursday, April 27 to Saturday, April 29.The Bulls broke three school records and beat top-ranked teams in the process.

The Distance Medley Relay team of Craig Kaiser, Joshua Gali, Tyler Scheving, and Brian Crimmins had a record-breaking performance in front of the largest crowd that University at Buffalo track and field has ever performed in front of, the race was also aired on NBC Sports Network for a national broadcast. The team ran to a finishing time of 9:35.72, beating Georgetown, Princeton, Penn State, and Army; all of which were regionally ranked in the Top-Ten, while Penn State is ranked 16th nationally. The time also beat the previous school record set back in 2014 by nearly 18 seconds.

The men also broke the school record in the 4X800. Kaiser, Scheving, Tom Meehan, and Crimmins clocked in at 7:23.00 to break the previous school record set in 2014. Their time placed them sixth overall, beating Michigan, Columbia, Middle Tennessee, Indiana, Penn, Duke, and Houston. Michigan, Middle Tennessee, Indiana, Penn, and Houston are all currently ranked in the Top-Ten in their respective regions.

The women’s shuttle hurdle relay team consisting on Kailyn Arcury, Christine Lyttle, Selina Von Jackowski, and Nikari Carota also broke a school record at the competition. The team placed seventh overall with a time of 56.97 to beat regionally ranked Oklahoma, Marshall, and Monmouth. The team broke the five-year-old school record by nearly a second.

Barrett Kemp also had a great showing at the competition. Kemp clocked in at 14:45.14 in the men’s 5000m for a new personal best in the event.
