Donald E. Plant, Jr. passed away at home on April 14, 2017. He was born on May 3, 1937 in N. Tonawanda, NY the son of the late Donald E. and Evelyn R. (Fischer) Plant, Sr.

Don graduated from Tonawanda High School where he played basketball earning All WNY honors and also played baseball and football. He attended Michigan State University for law enforcement. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1962. Don was a Niagara County Sheriff for 31 years, retiring as the Undersheriff in 1993. He was instrumental in the planning, fundraising and building of ENH Reflection Recovery Center, E911 system for Niagara County and the Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy. He was a former member of the executive board for the American Red Cross. Member of the Niagara County Sheriffs Alumni Association and the Dale Association. Don enjoyed sports especially basketball, hockey and football.

Donald is survived by his wife of 26 years; Molly (Turgeon) Plant; his sons; Michael (Carol) Plant and Robert (Cheryl) Plant; brother of Karen and the late Jean Morreau and Robert Plant.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday April 17, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home 242 Genesee St. Lockport, NY where funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 18, 2017 at 11AM. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to Friedens UCC, 190 Vandervoort St., North Tonawanda, NY 14120 or The Dale Association, 33 Ontario St., Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated by the family.
