MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University at Buffalo split a pair of games on Sunday in the final day of the Memphis Softball Tournament as the Bulls defeated Western Illinois 3-2, before falling to Indiana.

The Bulls got another solid pitching performance from sophomore Ally Power, who kept the Leathernecks off the board for the first six innings.  Buffalo struck first in the third as it loaded the bases with nobody out and freshman Karlie Fernandez drove in a pair with a single to right field.

Fernandez came through again in the fifth as she singled up the middle scoring fellow freshman Ufuoma Ogagan.  The Bulls held on to the 3-0 lead until the seventh when Western Illinois scored a pair, but the Bulls were able to come away with the win.

Power picked up her second win of the year as she struck out five in seven innings, while scattering five hits.

Fernandez went 2-for-3 with three runs batted in, while senior Essence Savinon went 2-for-2 in the contest.  Ogagan, Power, and Danielle Lallos each recorded hits as well.

In the second game, Indiana defeated the Bulls 8-0 in five innings.  The Hoosiers scored three in the first and four in the third, while adding one more in the fourth.

Fernandez, Jessica Goldyn, and Catrell Robertson each had one hit in the game.

The Bulls will head to College Park, MD on Friday to begin action at the Maryland Tournament. They open with the host Terps at 4:30 pm.
