MONTREAL — The Buffalo Sabres found themselves down a goal on two occasions Saturday night against the Montreal Canadians. But on both occasions, they came back to tie the game. Then in overtime, they took the lead when it mattered.

Zach Bogosian scored 1:48 into the extra stanza, assisted by Ryan O’Reilly and Evander Kane, giving the Sabres their second overtime victory in a row. It was the second assist for the night for both O’Reilly and Kane.

Artturi Lehkonen scored first for Montreal, lighting the lamp at 3:54 of the second period. Paul Byron assisted on the goal. Buffalo fought back immediately as Brian Gionta scored for the Sabres less than a minute later with help from Evander Kane. At 8:50, Phillip Danault put Montreal back in the lead, assisted by Jeff Petry and Max Pacioretty.

At 11:53 of the third period, Cody Franson scored his second goal of the season to tie the game at 2. Ryan O’Reilly assisted on the goal.

Then in overtime, Bogosian put the Sabres in the victory column with his first goal of the season.


The Sabres, now 19-18-9, next play on Tuesday when they visit the Nashville Predators.
