BUFFALO — An early-morning fire has left 18-people without a home and a 63-year-old Buffalo man in police custody facing charges of arson, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.

Police say the fire broke out inside the 10-apartment building in the 400 block of Bailey Avenue around 5:10 a.m. While no one was injured in the blaze, it did put 16 adults and two children out on the streets. The Red Cross is assisting with their temporary housing.

The suspect’s name was not released.

Officials say the damage to the building and contents could be as high as $300,000. The front of the building had to be torn down due to the extensive damage.
