JAMESTOWN — A 50-year-old Jamestown man was charged Friday with aggravated driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a crash into a stop sign and short chase.

According to New York State Police, the Ellicott Police Department attempted to pull over a vehicle that had struck a stop sign and fled the scene at Foote Avenue and Second Street in Jamestown. The vehicle, driven by Timothy Markham, was eventually stopped on Harrison Street.
NYSP arrived on scene and placed Markham under arrest after determining her was under the influence of alcohol. Markham was transported to SP Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .21. It was then determined that his driving privileges had been revoked due to alcohol related offences and he was additionally charged with AUO.

Markham was processed, arraigned in the Town of Ellery Court, released on his own recognizance and is to appear in the City of Jamestown on a later date.
