AKRON, Ohio – After three days of competition, the Buffalo men’s and women’s swimming and diving each placed third in the team results at the Zippy Invitational. The women ended with a score of 1546.50, while the men finished with a total score of 1543.

The women saw three first place finishes. Hannah Miller blew the competition away in the 1650 Free with a time of 16:47.74. Julia Box and Megan Burns each swam to first place finishes in the 200 Fly and 100 Free, respectively. Box finished with a time of 1:59.90. Burns finished with a time of 48.57. The 200 Free Relay team consisting of Megan Burns, Eve Kosten, Sarah Baxter, and Andrea Ernst finished in second place, clocking in at 1:30.96. The 400 Free Relay team of Sarah Baxter, Catherine Schultheis, Andrea Ernst, and Megan Burns clocked in at 3:22.18, another second place finish. Saoirse Palu-Benson finished in third in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:02.35.

Charles Barry took away a first place finish in the 1650 Free as well, breaking a meet and pool record with a time of 15:29.62. The men also saw one second place and three third place finishes. Tudor Puszet clocked in at 1:49.73 in the 200 Fly, a second place finish. Joseph Puglessi, Scott Huang, and the 400 Free Relay team consisting of Eric Jensen, Martin Leigh, Itai De La Vega, and Mason Miller all saw third place finishes. Puglessi clocked in at 1:49.08 in the 200 Back; Huang finished the 200 Breast in 2:00.74; and the 400 Free Relay team clocked in at 3:00.35.

The Bulls will be back in action in mid-January.
