TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 20-year-old Lockport man was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs following a pursuit by Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies and a crash with two other vehicles.

According to the NCSO report, deputies responded to a call reporting a reckless driver in the area of Keck Road and East High Street. As Deputies and Troopers were responding to the area, the reckless driver began to pursue the caller’s vehicle.

The suspect vehicle and caller’s vehicle were initially located at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Akron Road, at which time Patrol attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle then fled west bound on Akron Road, entering the City of Lockport. The suspect vehicle subsequently traveled through a red traffic signal at the intersection of Akron and Davison roads, at which time it was involved in a collision with two other vehicles.

Occupants of all three vehicle involved in the collision suffered apparent minor injuries. The suspect driver, identified as Alex W. Cruz was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, with additional charges pending. Investigation to continue by the Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit.
