Gas prices continue to fall in Western New York and across the country.

The price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Buffalo is down a penny to $2.33, while in Rochester, the price is now $2.32 — also a one-cent drop, according to AAA Western and Central New York. Statewide, the price is $2.36. The national average is $2.13.

This week, motorists are heading back to work after the Thanksgiving holiday. AAA expects to see a continued interest in travel spurred by improvements in the economy during the second half of the year, including rising wages, increased consumer spending and overall strength in consumer confidence. Gas prices are expected to continue to drop.

AAA notes that U.S. drivers have saved more than $28 billion so far at the pumps this year compared to the same period last year.
