DEKALB, IL – The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team (6-7-3, 3-4-1 MAC) battled the Northern Illinois Huskies to a scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon, 0-0. Laura Dougall finished with three saves as she earned her fifth clean sheet of the season and program record 26th of her career.

The Bulls were able to notch the first four shots in the match before earning the first shot opn goal in the 30th minute. Adrianna VanCuyck ripped a shot in the 30th minute that was saved by Amy Annala to keep the match scoreless. In the 36th minute, Northern Illinois had their first shot of the match as Cassidy Page took a shot that was saved by Laura Dougall. Ashley Evans had a corner kick in the 39th minute that turned into a scoring chance but Adrianna VanCuyck’s shot attempt went wide of the goal. UB had the final chance of the half in the final minute as Alex Lambert saw her shot saved by the NIU keeper, sending the teams to the locker room scoreless.

The Huskies had the first chance to score in the 53rd minute but Jess Wooldridge saw her header go wide of the goal. In the 66th minute the Huskies had a good chance to score but Laura Dougall made a big save on Taylor Sarver to keep the match scoreless. The Bulls responded quickly a minute later as Ashley Evans ripped a shot that was saved by Amy Annala. Kayla Hospodka was able to notch a shot in the 73rd minute that was saved by the keeper. NIU had a pair of chances that went wide in the 83rd minute before Carissima Cutrona saw her header go wide in the 89th minute.
Each team had a shot in the first overtime as Sammy O’Brien sent her shot wide before Andrea Niper saw her shot get blocked by the Huskies defense. Neither team had a scoring chance in the second overtime period as they battled to a scoreless draw.

The Bulls will return home for their final three matches of the regular season. The Bulls will play host to Eastern Michigan on Saturday, October 20 at 7:00 pm before hosting Central Michigan and Akron at UB Stadium on October 23rd and 27th, respectively.
