EDMONTON, Alberta — After the Edmonton Oilers came back from a two-goal deficit to tie the game at the end of the first period, the Buffalo Sabres stepped on the gas.

Kyle Okposo started the scoring just 2:37 in the first period, followed by Ryan O’Reilly at 7:14. Edmonton’s goals came within 100 seconds — at 17:20 and 19:00 of the first period.

O’Reilly scored again at 3:53 of the second period, followed by Brian Gionta at 9:22.

Gionta tallied a second goal 37 seconds into the third. Matt Moulson made it 6-2 with a power play goal at 4:36 of the third.

The Sabres will practice in Calgary on Monday and then face the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday night. The puck drops at 9 p.m. Coverage begins at 8:30 p.m. with Tops Sabres Gamenight on MSG-B. The game can also be heard on WGR 550.
