Canisius freshman Gretta Dry’s penalty kick in the 57th minute was all the Griffs need as they beat visiting Manhattan 1-0 Saturday afternoon. Fellow freshman goalkeeper Alana Rossi saved three shots as she posted her third shutout of her career. The win moves the Golden Griffins to 5-5-0 overall and 3-1-0 in MAAC play.

The Griffs dominated the match statistically firing 16 shots towards the net with seven going on goal. Whereas, the Jaspers shot nine balls towards the goal with only three registering as shots on goal. Also Canisius had six corner kicks to Manhattan’s three.

Canisius’ shot production came mostly from senior Sabrina Fitzgerald as she aimed seven shots of the Griffs 16 near the net with two going on goal.

Dry continues to lead the Griffs in points (14), goals (5) and assists (4).

Canisius will travel to Quinnipiac next Saturday, Oct. 8 to face the Bobcats at 1 p.m.
