FREDONIA — Ryan Keller scored with less than four minutes remaining to lift host Fredonia to a 3-2 victory over Buffalo State today in a SUNYAC contest, snapping the Bengals’ three-game winning streak.

Bass Sarr (New York/JREC) and August Finn (High Falls/Rondout Valley) tallied a goal and an assist each for Buffalo State. Fredonia opened the scoring in the 21st minute and held the 1-0 advantage into the second half.

Sarr evened the score for Buffalo State with his ninth goal of the season in the 54th minute with an assist from Finn. The Blue Devils pulled ahead again less than six minutes later, but Buffalo State responded with Finn’s second goal of the season with an assist from Sarr in the 75th minute. Fredonia sealed the win, however, converting with just 3:59 remaining in the game.

The Blue Devils had a narrow 15-14 edge in shots. William Banahene (Rochester/Brighton) made seven saves in goal for Buffalo State.

The win earns two points for Fredonia to even the scored in the season-long “Battle by the Lake” competition.

Buffalo State will next play on the road again in another SUNYAC contest at Oswego at 3 p.m. Friday.
