The Canisius women’s soccer team will stay at the Demske Sports Complex for the second straight game as they host Manhattan Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

The Golden Griffins march into this game with a record of 4-5-0 after a dominating 4-0 victory versus Niagara this past Wednesday. The Griffs are looking to find consistent play as they’ve alternated wins and losses the past five games.

Freshman Gretta Dry, who leads the team in points (12), goals (4) and assists (4), also lead the way against Niagara with the first goal of the game in the 54th minute and added an assist. Senior Sabrina Fitzgerald, sophomore Emily Czechowski and sophomore Emily Kuta all tallied goals for the Golden Griffins. Freshman goalkeeper Alana Rossi extended her scoreless streak to 205:55 minutes straight in her last three home games.

Canisius will go against the Jaspers for the 25th time during regular season play, holding a 13-9-2 program record. The conference rivals first squared off in 1991, with the Griffs defeating Manhattan 5-1. Canisius was victorious over the Jaspers in the final game of the regular season in 2014, clinching a MAAC playoff berth.

Manhattan is 4-6-0 on the season, having won three out of their last four games, including a 3-0 victory over Iona this past Wednesday afternoon. The Jaspers are 1-2-0 on the road this season, with the lone win being the Iona game. They have been shutout in all of their six losses this season. Senior Erica Modena leads the team in points with seven, registering three goals and one assist.
