BUFFALO — Buffalo State exploded for five goals on 24 shots to down visiting D’Youville, 5-0 this afternoon at Coyer Field.

August Finn (High Falls/Rondout Valley) put the Bengals on the board just over four minutes into the game, ripping a shot from 20 yards out that snuck inside the post for a 1-0 lead. Tristan Myers (Rochester/Webster Thomas) continued his hot streak (five goals in five games) and put Buffalo State up 2-0 after he cashed in a breakaway attempt set up by Sammy Wasson (Clarence/Clarence).
The Bengals would strike again three minutes into the second half when Bass Sarr (New York/JREC) knocked home a rebound to make it 3-0.

Sarr wasn’t done, heading in an attempt in the 74th minute for his second goal of the game to push the lead to 4-0. Drew Johnson (Andover, MA/Andover) put the icing on the cake for the Bengals in the 88th minute, driving a shot from just over 20 yards out that beat the goaltender to make it 5-0, Buffalo State. Goalkeeper Andreas Queen (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) recorded his first career shutout in his debut start for the Buffalo State program, making two saves.

Buffalo State continues its dominant run against local program D’Youville.  The Bengals are now 8-0 against the Spartans since the 2009 season, outscoring D’Youville 40-1 over that span.
SUNYAC Defensive Athlete of the Week, William Banahene (Rochester/Brighton), showed off some offensive skills, getting time at the forward posistion while creating a couple chances.

Buffalo State will head to Alfred State to take on the Pioneers on at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
