The Canisius College golf team gets back to action this weekend when the team travels east on the New York State Thruway to participate in the annual Cornell Invitational in Ithaca.

This marks the 10th-straight year where the Golden Griffins have played in the Cornell Invitational. Last year, Canisius placed 13th in the 14-team field. Former Griff Hunter Sagar was Canisius’ top finisher a year ago, placing 24th.

Canisius started the 2016 season Sept. 3-4 at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational, which was hosted by Colgate. The Griffs finished their first event of the fall season in 12th place after posting a 54-hole team score of 963. Canisius freshman David Hanes was the Blue and Gold’s top individual performer, as he tied for 15th in the field. Hanes shot a three-round total of 224, highlighted by his one-over par score of 73 in the first round.
