CLARENCE — West Shore Brewing Company is hoping its patrons-to-be can help it open its doors to a 2,300-square-foot microbrewery and taproom on Main Street.

The brewery, named after a former railroad company, has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise $7,500, which it says will “help with the final stages of construction” on the brewery, which includes the renovations of a historic bar they believe to be from the 1930s, tables and chairs for a planned outside eating area, and the construction of fermenting rooms.

As with any Kickstarter campaign, if the pledge drive doesn’t reach it’s goal, the campaign gets nothing. In this case, they have 17 days remaining to raise approximately $6,830.

Also, being a Kickstarter campaign, there are rewards for those kicking in — from stickers for $10 donations all the way up to a “taproom takeover” for $1,000, allowing the patron a private party for themselves and 20 of their friends.

Once the brewery opens, they plan on offering four distinct brews immediately. They describe them as follows:

  • Historic Rail Pale Ale: This refreshing pale ale has a nice hop note, with an evenly balanced malt backbone that can satisfy a number of different craft beer palates. This smooth ale comes in at 5.1% ABV and 39 IBUs.
  • Clarence Station Amber: A malt-forward beer consisting of Munich and Pale malt with a touch of caramel. Its subtle sweetness is offset by German and American Hops, making a very easy-drinking beer. 5.3% ABV, 19 IBUs.
  • Imperial Series Tower IPA: The first of our Imperial Series to be released. All our Imperial Series beers will have a similarly themed name, so stay tuned! This IPA is an East Coast/English Style that gets its hop notes from Cascade and Mt Hood Hops. It comes in at a hearty 7.5% ABV and 85 IBUs.
  • Erie Limited Pre-Prohibition Ale: A dark ale that drinks much smoother than its color and ABV suggest. This ale combines Pale, Caramel, Aromatic and Midnight Wheat malts with Liberty and Galena hops for a taste and style of a forgotten era. 5.9% ABV and 39 IBUs.
