Gasoline prices throughout the nation have fallen to $2.16 per gallon — a 12-year low for the month of July.

Locally, gas prices in Buffalo and Rochester are $2.34 and $2.29, repectively, a drop of two cents from a week ago, while the state average is $2.36.

Gas prices continue to drop in most parts of the country due to abundant fuel supplies and declining crude oil costs, according to AAA of Central and Western New York. The lower prices are motivating travelers. AAA has seen an increase in members asking for maps and travel
information as they plan summer road trips.

Gas prices likely will remain relatively low compared to recent years for the remainder of the summer, the automotive association states.
