Pan-Am Weekend

Celebrate the 122nd anniversary of the Pan-American Exposition with The Buffalo History Museum during Pan-Am Weekend! This two-day event, which begins on M&T Third Friday, will feature multiple opportunities to explore the rich history of the Exposition, which brought the world to Buffalo in 1901. The Buffalo History Museum, which first opened in 1901 as the Exposition’s New York State Building, is the perfect place to learn more about this pivotal moment in the city’s history!

Event Schedule

Friday, May 19

11am-3pm

Explore the rich history of the Exposition in and around the Museum on a docent-led tour at 11 am and 1 pm.

Make your own Pan-American Exposition flags in the State Court.

4pm

The Buffalo History Museum’s Executive Director, Melissa Brown, will guide visitors through a tour of colorized renderings of the Exposition inside the “TO RESCUE THE COLOR: SALVAGED RENDERINGS OF THE PAN-AM” exhibit.

6 pm

“OLMSTED’S ELMWOOD” PRESENTATION by Preservationist Clinton Brown

Saturday, May 20

10am- Noon: Pan-Am Themed SECRETS FROM THE STACKS with Library Director Cynthia Van Ness

Museum Educator Brandon Kennedy will provide a brief overview of the assassination of President William McKinley inside our Continuum exhibit, which features several artifacts related to the tragedy, including the gun anarchist Leon Czolgosz used to shoot the president.
