BUFFALO — The Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will offer a three-part education series on recognizing and understanding Alzheimer’s disease and dementia beginning Jan. 24. The hybrid classes will be held at the Church of the Annunciation, 7580 Clinton St. in Elma, and online via Zoom.

The Jan. 24 session will help participants “Know the 10 Warning Signs.” The second session will be held Feb. 21 and cover “Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia.” The final session on March 1 will be “Tips for Tough Conversations.”

“The sessions will help educate participants about the differences between Alzheimer’s and normal aging, and what to do if you suspect dementia in yourself or a loved one,” says Andrea Koch, director of education and training for the WNY Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. “With new treatments available for early-stage Alzheimer’s, it is more important than ever to be evaluated by a health care professional if Alzheimer’s is suspected.”

People may attend any or all of the sessions, and separate registrations are required for each one. Individuals can register for the first session online at bit.ly/Elma10WS or by calling 800-272.3900.
