BUFFALO — Albright Knox’ 20th anniversary of Art Alive had 29 works contributed from more than a dozen local schools with awards given to those deemed the best by a group of judges.

The awards are as follows:

Best Tableau from the Albright-Knox’ collection or AK public art:

  • Queen of Heaven School: Franz Marc’s The Wolves (The Balkan War), 1913 (Collection Albright-Knox Art Gallery)
  • Gowanda High School: Casey Riordan Millard’s Shark Girl, 2013 (Public Art Collection of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery)

Handyman Award for best craftsmanship:

  • Queen of Heaven School: Franz Marc’s The Wolves (The Balkan War), 1913 (Collection Albright-Knox Art Gallery)
  • Nichols School Free Draw Club: George Tooker’s The Subway, 1950 (Collection Whitney Museum of American Art)
  • Madonna Coleman-Petrik: Fra Angelico’s Madonna and Child of the Grapes, 1425 (Collection Barbara Piasecka Johnson Foundation)

Off-The-Beaten Path Award for most unusual:

  • Holland Elementary School: John Steuart Curry’s Tornado Over Kansas, 1929 (Collection Muskegon Museum of Art)
  • Gowanda High School: Banksy’s Gas Mask Boy, 2010
