FRANKLINVILLE — A 49-year-old Great Valley man was charged on Saturday with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on SR 98.

According to New York State Police, during the traffic stop, Richard D. Chamberlain was exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication. Troopers determined he had been operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Chamberlain was then arrested and transported to SP Machias, where a chemical breath test revealed him to have a 0.16% BAC.

Chamberlain was issued appearance tickets for Franklinville Town Court, where he is due to appear in July.
