BELFAST — A 19-year-old Caneadea man was charged Monday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop — of sorts — on New Road.

According to New York State Police, Troopers stopped to check on a truck parked in the roadway on New Road. While interviewing the driver, William S. Cobb, marijuana was observed in plain view.  A subsequent search of the vehicle also found controlled prescription medication and other drug paraphernalia.

Cobb was arrested and transported to SP Amity for processing before being released on tickets and ordered to re-appear in Town of Belfast Court on Tuesday.
