NIAGARA UNIV. — The Niagara men’s and women’s golf teams wrap up the spring season at the MAAC Championships at Walt Disney World’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Friday through Sunday.

The men will tee-off from the first hole of the par-72 course on Friday, April 21 beginning at 7:30 a.m. The women will also take the par-72 course on Friday, April 21. They will tee-off from the tenth hole and tee times begin at 7:30 a.m.

The men’s team, which finished seventh at last year’s MAAC Championships, will be represented by seniors Daniel Weimer and Nicco Gentile, juniors Christian Nizamis and Ben Conroy and sophomore Ryan Mihok. The team completed the regular season at the Rhode Island Invitational April 17-18. The team carded a 939 (+75) and finished in 13th place. Weimer led the team, firing a 75 (+3) in round one, his best score of the spring season, and carding a total three-round score of 230 (+14) to finish tied for 30th place.

The women’s team will be represented by senior Selena Cerra, junior Emily Doyle and freshmen Marissa Del Monaco, Sarah Godfrey and Daniella Hopper. The Purple Eagles, who took eighth place at last year’s MAAC Championships, closed out their regular season on April 13 with a dual match victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) University; the Purple Eagles carded a 323 (+39), while the Red Flash carded a 328 (+44). Niagara’s victory was the first win in program history for the women’s team.

The final day of the MAAC Championships will be broadcast live on ESPN3 on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
