BUFFALO – University at Buffalo women’s soccer head coach Shawn Burke announced the addition of Julia Whipple to the Bulls 2017 signing class on Thursday morning.

“We are excited to add Julia to our 2017 class,” said head coach Shawn Burke. “She is going to provide stability and depth to our talented goalkeeping core. I’ve been fortunate enough to watch her grow and develop over these last few years and am looking forward to the impact she can have with our program.”

Whipple comes to Buffalo after a very successful career between the pipes at Hamburg High School for head coach Thomas Zugger. Started in goal all four seasons while being named team captain during her junior and senior campaigns. Whipple earned First Team ECIC all four seasons at Hamburg while leading her team to a 6-6 record with 111 saves during her final season. As a freshman, she led all of Section 6 in minutes played by a goalkeeper.

She joins a six-player signing class that includes Mackenzie Allen, Sidney Reeves, Kaitlyn Walsh, Marcella Barberic, Gianna Yurchak and Lena Lucas. Whipple also joins rising senior Laura Dougall as the only goalkeepers on the Bulls roster for the 2017 campaign.
