CORTLAND — For the second-consecutive week, Buffalo State softball’s Allie Block (N.Tonawanda/Starpoint) was honored by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), this time earning conference Pitcher of the Week honors today, per the SUNYAC’s release.
Block was a perfect 3-0 in the circle for the week, helping the Bengals (15-21/11-7) secure a playoff berth as the No. 4 seed. She posted a 1.47 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched, and allowed just 14 hits and five walks.
The sophomore exceptional education major also helped herself at the plate, going 3-for-8 (.375) with a home run, two RBIs and two walks.
The honor comes a week after Block was named the conference’s Athlete of the Week after hitting .588 (10-of-17) with five doubles, two home runs and 11 RBIs.
Buffalo State opens the SUNYAC Championships at host Cortland this Thursday. The Bengals will take on the No. 3 seeded Plattsburgh Cardinals (23-17/11-7) at 1 p.m. to kick off its run in the double-elimination tournament.
