GRAND ISLAND, N.Y.— Sembel Koshi (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) used a dominant late kick to win his first collegiate race, pacing Buffalo State to a team title at the Daniel Walker Invitational today at Beaver Island State Park.

  • Koshi won the 5K race, covering the course in 16:55 to lead the 40-runner field.
  • Ten of the top 11 finishers in the meet wore Buffalo State colors.
  • Josh Glaub (West Seneca/W. Seneca East) placed third with a time of 17:45.
  • Josh Behuniak (Williamsville/Williamsville East) was fourth in 17:57, while Montaka Shad (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) crossed fifth (17:58), and Kevin Murnock (East Aurora/East Aurora) completed the Bengals’ scorers in sixth (18:31).
  • Seth Fonda (Buffalo/Cheektowaga) was eighth (18:35), Josh Jeziorski (Alden/Alden) was ninth (18:45), Josh Lisiecki(Cheektowaga/W. Seneca East) was 10th (18:51), and Owen Szantor (Lockport/Lockport) was 11th (18:57).
