UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced that University at Buffalo cross country head coach Vicki Mitchell was elevated to President of the NCAA Division I Cross Country Executive Committee.

Mitchell was appointed to her position at the 2017 USTFCCCA Convention in Phoenix and replaces outgoing President Dave Smith of Oklahoma State, who served from 2015 until now.
This is the first time in the history of the USTFCCCA that two women have been Presidents of the NCAA Division I Cross Country and Track & Field Executive Committees concurrently. Connie Price-Smith, the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field at Ole Miss, is the President of the NCAA Division I Track & Field Executive Committee and has been in that role since last year.
Prior to becoming President, Mitchell served as 1st Vice President to Smith from 2015 to 2017, 2nd Vice President from 2013 to 2015 and as the Women’s Regional Representative for the Northeast Region from 2010 to 13.
Mitchell was also the Chair of NCAA Division I Cross Country Polls Committee from 2015 to 2017 and Chair of the NCAA Division I Cross Country Awards Committee from 2013 to 2015.
Mitchell is entering her 19th year at Buffalo and has been the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field since 2002. Mitchell has excelled with the Bulls as 20 of 21 historical All-Americans have been crowned during her tenure including the only Nation Champion in school history in shot put, Jon Jones.
