The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens is bringing Western New Yorkers opportunities to connect with plants and pollinators through art.
Buffalo, NY— The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens’ Arcangel Gallery has welcomed local artist, Jeffrey Lennox, to their Arcangel Gallery for a unique exhibit called, Sculptorial Art. The exhibit is open daily from 10:00am to 4:00pm now through August 3, 2025. The Botanical Gardens’ Open Art Nights also continue through the summer season for local artists to create in plein-air inside the conservatory on every second Wednesday from now through September from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Kids and families are invited to enjoy special art activities through their new Inspiration Stations taking place every Saturday from now through the end of July from 10:00am to 12:30pm. Jeff Lennox will be present for the Inspiration Stations on July 12, 19, and 26 for Pop-Up Portraits for kids and families to have their portraits drawn for an added experience. All events are included with regular admission to the Botanical Gardens and also includes access to their new Playspace and the Butterfly Experience.
Jeffrey Lennox’s Sculptorial Art opened on Friday, June 20 and will be on view daily from 10:00am to 4:00pm through August 3. The exhibit will be celebrated with an opening reception this Friday, June 27 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Featured in the exhibit are unique three-dimensional paintings that create a visual harmony inspired by many plants and scenes from the Botanical Gardens. After attending a few Open Art Nights at the Botanical Gardens, Jeff’s skill and interest and inspiration stood out, ultimately resulting in a collaboration of his work inside the Botanical Gardens’ Arcangel Gallery. Featuring gorgeous plants like the Bird of Paradise, anthuriums, daisies, and even some animals like birds, fish and frogs, the works create a compelling visual story that invites visitors to view the works from all angles. Also featured with the exhibit are seven sculptures in similar styles that are hung inside one of the Botanical Gardens’ greenhouses and can be viewed from all sides.
“It is exciting to exhibit my ‘sculptorial art’ in the beautiful Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. I have assembled a collection of recent work to share the energetic and dimensional way I perceive our world. I hope that after viewing this show, visitors will view art, these gardens, and their environment with expanded vision,” said artist Jeff Lennox.
This exhibit is an example of the inspiration that the Botanical Gardens provides visitors and artists. Interested artists, whether professional or amateur, can take advantage of the inspiration by attending their Open Art Nights, which occur every second Wednesday of the month through September. Pre-purchased tickets can be reserved online and artists have the opportunity to create inside the historic conservatory for four hours.
Inspiration Stations have also been added to the Botanical Gardens’ calendar for kids and families to also enjoy creativity and inspiration in the conservatory. With different arts, crafts, projects and themes, like pollinators and flowers, Inspiration Stations are happening every Saturday from 10:00am to 12:30pm until the end of July. Adding to the fun, Arcangel Gallery artist Jeff Lennox will be joining the fun on July 12, 19, and 26 during Inspiration Stations with Pop-Up Portraits, where visitors can have their portraits drawn in exchange for a donation that directly benefits the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. Visitors and families can make the most of their visit to the Botanical Gardens with these fun activities while also enjoying access to their brand-new Playspace and Butterfly Experience.
All exhibits and activities are included with regular admission to the Botanical Gardens excluding the optional donation for a Pop-Up Portrait. Tickets can be pre-purchased online at buffalogardens.com.
