AKRON — Akron Rescue Cats, Inc. is proud to announce it has received a $13,500 grant from Bailey and Friends, a trust component of the B. Thomas Golisano Foundation, to support its Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) program in the Akron area. This funding will allow the organization to expand access to spay/neuter services and purchase essential trapping equipment and supplies, directly benefiting the health and well-being of underserved community cat populations.

In just 18 months since launching, Akron Rescue Cats has grown from a small grassroots initiative to a recognized nonprofit, working to bring humane solutions to the region’s cat overpopulation crisis. The TNVR program lies at the heart of that mission, and the grant from Bailey and Friends marks a major milestone in its continued expansion.

“This support is truly transformative,” said Stephanie Barber, Founder/Executive Director of Akron Rescue Cats. “It allows us to reach more cats who’ve been overlooked for far too long, offering them the chance to live healthier, safer lives. We are incredibly grateful to the B. Thomas Golisano Foundation and Bailey and Friends for believing in our vision. This is just the beginning of what we plan to accomplish for our community.”

The Golisano Foundation is one of the largest private foundations in the U.S. dedicated to making the world a better place for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Foundation is devoted to opening doors to opportunity, changing negative perceptions and stereotypes, and forging unprecedented partnerships to ensure individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have pathways to personal dignity, independence, and the best possible expression of their abilities and talents throughout their lifetimes. Founded in 1985 by Tom Golisano—entrepreneur, philanthropist, civic leader, and founder of Paychex, Inc. —the Foundation “imagines the possibilities,” advocating for families, fighting for their dignity, and giving people with IDD the opportunity to thrive in their communities. With more than $120 million in gross assets, it awards about $3 – $5 million annually to non-profit organizations in Western New York and Southwest Florida.
