BUFFALO, N.Y. — Canisius junior Jaret Chipman shot a four-over par score of 74, while sophomore Matt Genaway carded a 75 as the Golden Griffins closed out their trip to the annual Bucknell Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Bucknell Golf Course in Lewisburg, PA.
Canisius recorded a team score of 304 in the final round to finish the 36-hole event 14th in place out of the 18 teams that were in the field.
Genaway’s 75 on Tuesday gave him a 36-hole tournament score of 148, which stands as his lowest career score in a two-round tournament, and earned him a tie for 36th in the field. Chipman finished the tournament tied for 48th after he posted a two-round tally of 150.
GRIFFS’ LINEUP
Genaway’s 148 for the two-rounds allowed him to be the Griffs’ top performer in a tournament for the third time in his career, and for the first time since the Blue and Gold took part in the 2017 Navy Spring Invitational last April. Freshman Mike Donner finished tied for 65th in the field after he carded a two-round tally of 152, highlighted by his 73 on Monday, and senior John Dantonio earned a tie for 71 with his two-day score of 153, featuring a six-over par score of 76 on Tuesday.
TEAM LEADERBOARD
Canisius’ team score of 603 put the Griffs four strokes behind Hampton, which shot 299 as a team on Tuesday to finish in 13th place. Temple won the team title with a two-day score of 564, which was four-over par for the event, and three strokes better than Wayne State, which shot 567 as a unit over 36 holes.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
La Salle’s Dragon Theam won Bucknell Invitational individual medalist honors after he shot a four-under score of 66 on Tuesday. Theam, who entered the day tied for second after shooting 67 on Monday, won the tournament crown with a 36-hole score of 133.
NEXT ON THE TEE
The Griffs close out their 2018 fall schedule Oct. 15-16 when the team travels to take part in the Titan Motown Intercollegiate, hosted by Detroit-Mercy, at Prestwick Golf Club in Highland, Mich.
