Lynn B. Hoffman, 88, of Sanborn, NY, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Peace Health Care Facility surrounded by her loving family on December 3, 2025. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Harold C. and Mildred (Keller) Brooks, and the devoted wife of the late Walter S. Hoffman, who predeceased her in 1994.

A 1955 graduate of Niagara Falls High School, Lynn earned her Bachelors of Science from Geneseo State College in 1959 and later earned her Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Buffalo at the age of 50. She dedicated her career to the Newfane Central School District as a librarian until her retirement in 1998.

Education and history were lifelong passions. Lynn served on the Board of Directors of the Sanborn Area Historical Society for 20 years and was active with the Niagara County Historical Society. She cherished her own family history, tracing her lineage back to Mayflower passengers and proudly noting her relation to Benjamin Franklin.

After retirement, Lynn enjoyed traveling with the Dale Association of Lockport. She loved musicals, Broadway shows, old movies, reading, gardening, and most of all, spending time with her family. Though she was accomplished and admired, her greatest joy was being “Babci” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lynn is survived by her children, Ellen (Paul) Lopez and Adele (Stephen) Veihdeffer; her brother, H. Craig Brooks; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband of 35 years, she was predeceased by her baby sister, Brenda Ann.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 10, from 5 – 6:30 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, followed by funeral services at 6:30 PM. Entombment will take place privately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sanborn Area Historical Society, 2660 Saunders Settlement Rd, Sanborn, NY 14132.
