Senior Kyle Urban and freshman Julia Gullo paced the Canisius men’s and women’s cross country teams in the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday at the Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, N.Y.

Urban led the Golden Griffin men in the 8k race, claiming a 12th-place finish with a time of 24:33.6 to earn All-MAAC recognition. Senior Brody Jones (25:05.4/24th), sophomores Nathaniel Fisher (25:08.6/25th) and Fenway Breckels (25:53.7/49th) and freshman Daniel Granville (26:22.4/76th) rounded out the top five runners for Canisius.

The men placed 5th with a team total of 142 points. Iona took first place with 15 points, claiming the top 10 spots in the race to earn its NCAA-record 35th consectuive conference crown. Siena (67) placed second while Marist (85) rounded out the top three.

In the women’s 6k race, Gullo claimed a 46th-place finish with a time of 22:50.4. Juniors Brooke Podgorski (23:52.0/89th), Cassandra Collins (24:16.8/104th) and Payton Calkins (24:20.7/107th), and sophomore Clara Sundberg (24:21.4/108th) finished out the top five runners for the Griffs.

The women placed 12th with a team total of 333 points. Quinnipiac took first place for the fourth year in a row with 36 points, claiming four top-10 runners. Iona (64) claimed second and Sacred Heart (106) rounded out the top three.
