Nelson J. Linza, 72, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on April 12, 2024 at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Oscar Linza and Florence (Jankowski) (late Charles) Guagenti.

Nelson was a 1969 graduate of Niagara Falls High School.  On October 8, 1983, he married Diane M. (Klejdys) Linza at the Niagara Falls Wintergarden.  Nelson was employed by Union Carbide and later as a Chemical Operator with DuPont Chemical in Niagara Falls for over 30 years until his retirement in 2012.  In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball, volleyball and softball in local leagues and coaching his wife’s baseball team at the Crazy Horse.  Nelson loved golfing, boating, and socializing with his many friends, and was affectionately known as “The Mayor of Niagara Falls”.  He will be remembered most for his larger-than-life personality.

In addition to his beloved wife of 40 years, Nelson is survived by his children, Cara (Grant) Gibson, Yvonne (Dan) Sorensen, Carrie Ann Scrivano, and Anthony Scrivano; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Cain, Sarah, Rob, Niki, Brandon, Lilian and Rhiannon; his great-grandchildren, Derek and Julia; his sisters, Joanne Haferkamp and Marilyn Linza-Delahoy; his mother-in-law, Elaine (late Bill) Sdao, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20 from 12 PM – 5:30 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin at 5:30 PM.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
