Kevin J. Stack, 82, of Youngstown, N.Y., passed away peacefully at the Niagara Hospice House on Friday afternoon, December 15, 2023. 

Born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., he was the son of the late Niagara Falls Fire Fighter Emmett J. and Genevieve L. (Orszulak) Stack.

Kevin graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1960 and enlisted in the United States Marines.  He proudly served as a sergeant and was a decorated Expert Rifleman until his honorable discharge in 1969.

On June 13, 1964, he married his beloved wife, Rose Marie (Friona) Stack at St. Joseph’s Church in Niagara Falls and moved to Youngstown in 1979.

Kevin was employed at the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office for over 27 years, beginning as a guard in the county jail and progressing through the top rank of road patrol supervision.  He retired as an investigator in the Welfare Fraud Unit of the Sheriff’s Department on December 29, 1998.  

Prior to his career as a Sheriff’s Deputy, Kevin worked at International Paper Co. , Albert Elia Building Company, Friona Brother’s Trucking Company, and for the Bell Aerospace Test Center. 

Kevin was a long-time member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Knights of Columbus #247.  He was a devout Catholic, serving as a long-time usher at St. Joseph’s Church and as a current parishioner of St. Bernard’s Church. 

As an avid outdoorsman, Kevin loved shooting, hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed coin collecting, woodworking, and playing golf as a long-time member of Niagara Frontier Country Club. 

Above all, Kevin enjoyed spending time with his loving family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by his children, Maura Stack-Duge (Ken), John Stack, Garrett Stack, Kevin (Tamar) Stack and Thomas (Lisa) Stack; several cherished grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his older brothers, Bernard E. (late Ann Marie) (Barbara) Stack, Gerald F. (Kirsten) Stack and his infant brother, Paul Stack.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 19 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS N.Y. 14304.  Kevin’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30 AM at St. Bernard’s Church, 218 Hinman Street, Youngstown, NY 14174.  Everyone please assemble at church.   Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, N.Y. with Military Honors.  Memorial offerings may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or the Niagara Hospice House.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
