Carol A. Nichols, 81, of Niagara Falls, NY, went to be with Our Lord on December 15, 2023. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rose (LaPorta) Rufrano and the wife of Walter R. “Walt” Nichols, Sr., who she married on April 7, 1971.

Carol attended local schools and was a 1960 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. She worked in numerous offices as a clerical worker throughout the Niagara area as an employee of temporary personnel agencies. She enjoyed working with and meeting new people and always loved to learn new things.  Her greatest joy was her children and her grandchildren and the times spent together laughing and reminiscing, and always bonding together in support of one another.

Carol was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America Cataract Lodge #240. In her spare time, Carol loved arts and crafts, card making, and camping in the Southern Tier in the summers with her family.

In addition to her husband of 52 years, she is survived by five children; Walter (Robin) Nichols, Jr., Wanda (late Robert) Neubauer, Wendy Figurilli, Michael (Lisa) Nichols, and Marc Nichols; eleven grandchildren; Stephanie Galie, Tyler Cutajar, Joseph Cutajar, Amara Nichols, Michael Nichols II, Eric Nichols, Luke Nichols, Grace Nichols, Ariane Nichols, Savannah Nichols, and Serena Nichols; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Michael (late Barbara) Rufrano; and a sister, Patricia (John Graves) Rufrano, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Rufrano, and a sister, Mary (late Benedict) D’Apollo.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 20 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304 where funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:15 AM, followed by Carol’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Divine Mercy Parish, 2437 Niagara Street, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
