
ALFRED LOUIS GARRISON, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023. Born on August 4, 1953, in Buffalo, New York, he was the beloved son of Mattye M. and Glen Earl Garrison Sr., both of whom have preceded him in death. Alfred was also preceded by his brothers Vandy Garrison, Glen Earl Garrison Jr., Charlie Jones, sisters Linda Jones and Juanita “Reba” Jones, and many other loved ones.
Alfred is survived by his brothers John Neal Garrison, Antonio Stanley, Robin Flemming, Bucy “Bo” Jones, sisters Barbara Bolden, Mary Jones-Clavell (Ray), Teresa Jones, and his children Derrell Garrison, Shahid Ali, Domick Scurry (Frieda), and Takisa Garrison. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughter, Amanda Scurry, and grandson, Christian Garrison.
Alfred’s career at Ford Motor Company was marked by dedication and hard work, leading to a well-earned retirement. However, his impact extended far beyond his professional life. Retired from the Ford Motor Company, he found purpose in working as a Substance Use Disorder Recovery and Integration (SUDRI) Peer Specialist at Best Self Behavioral Health. His unwavering commitment to helping others navigate their own paths to recovery was a testament to his compassionate nature.
Alfred devoted 32 years to working with Narcotics Anonymous. His impact on the lives of those struggling with addiction was immeasurable, and his legacy as a beacon of hope will endure. His involvement with NA not only showcased his resilience but also touched the lives of countless individuals. In his community, Alfred was a prominent figure known for his infectious personality and a sense of style that left a lasting impression. He had a penchant for dressing with flair, ensuring every public appearance made a statement. His warmth and charisma endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Alfred leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and community service. His memory will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023, 5 PM – 7 PM at THOMAS T. EDWARDS FUNERAL HOME INC., 995 Genesee Street, Buffalo, New York 14211. The family will receive friends Friday, December 15, 2023, 10 AM at New Beginnings COGIC, 828 Genesee Street, Buffalo, New York 14211. Funeral to follow at 11 AM. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
