Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 18-year-old Dreon D. Jones of Buffalo, 19-year-old Jajuan J. Hunt of Buffalo, 19-year-old Kevin L. Tucker, III of Tonawanda and 20-year-old Kahill J. Reeves of Buffalo were arraigned on Saturday morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Diane Y. Wray on the following offenses:

  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony)
  • One count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (Class “D” felony)
  • One count of Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor)
  • One count of Resisting Arrest (Class “A” misdemeanor)
  • One count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor)

Hunt was arraigned on additional charges – one count of Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree one count of Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanors) and additional Vehicle & Traffic Law violations for reckless driving, imprudent speed, failure to obey traffic devices, unsafely moving from lane and driving without a license.

It is alleged that on Friday, November 3, 2023, at approximately 4:20 p.m., New York State Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop of a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee on East Delavan Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The accused operator of the Jeep, Jajuan J. Hunt, allegedly refused to stop and hit multiple vehicles during the pursuit. All four defendants allegedly fled on foot after the damaged Jeep lost a wheel in the area of Hertel Avenue and Wallace Avenue. A loaded, illegal handgun was allegedly recovered during the investigation.

Jones, Hunt, Tucker and Reeves are scheduled to return on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. All four defendants were held without bail.

If convicted of the highest charge, each face a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

DA Flynn commends the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, NYSP Community Stabilization Unit and the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Megan E. Mahoney of the Felony Trials Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Mitchell C. Boughton of the Buffalo City Court Bureau.

Jajuan J. Hunt is currently pending sentence after pleading guilty in two criminal cases. Our office will file motions to request that the Court revoke the defendant’s release on his own recognizance in both files.

On May 3, 2023, Hunt pleaded guilty before State Supreme Court Justice Debra L. Givens to one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (Class “D” felonies). In February 2023, the defendant was found in possession of a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee. Hunt is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.

Hunt also pleaded guilty in a separate stolen vehicle-related case. On February 8, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Buffalo Police officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop of a stolen pickup traveling westbound on Route 33. The vehicle fled at a high-rate of speed. The Dodge Ram, reported stolen from a residence in Cheektowaga, was later found abandoned on Delaware Avenue near Tacoma Avenue. Surveillance video and other evidence linked the defendant to the crime.

On September 18, 2023, Hunt pleaded guilty before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case to one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree (Class “E” felony) and one count of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor). Hunt is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.

Kahill J. Reeves has two outstanding bench warrants for criminal cases pending in Amherst Town Court.

It is alleged that on Friday, July 21, 2023, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the defendant unlawfully remained inside of an apartment of the 2900 block of North Forest Road in the Town of Amherst. The defendant had been previously banned for trespassing on the property.

Reeves was charged with on one count of Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor). He was given an appearance ticket to be arraigned on August 9, 2023, but failed to appear. On October 19, 2023, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear for rescheduled arraignment dates in September and October.

It is further alleged that on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the defendant intentionally exposed the intimate part of his body in a lewd manner. The alleged crime occurred in the presence of a victim at a common area gym at an apartment building on the 2900 block of North Forest Road in the Town of Amherst. The victim reported the incident to police.

When Reeves was later identified as the suspect, he was charged with one count of Public Lewdness (Class “B” misdemeanor) and issued an appearance ticket to be arraigned on September 20, 2023. A bench warrant was issued after he failed to appear for an arraignment.

Kevin L. Tucker, III has one criminal case pending in Tonawanda Town Court. Our office will file a motion to request that the defendant’s bail be revoked.

It is alleged that on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Tucker and co-defendant Darrel D. Cook, age 19, were arrested by Town of Tonawanda Police after they were found in possession of a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee in the area of Highland Avenue and Parkhurst Boulevard.

The following day, Tucker and Cook were arraigned before Tonawanda Town Court Justice J. Mark Gruber on one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree (Class “D” felony) Band one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree (Class “E” felony). Both defendants were released on their own recognizance. The matter is scheduled to return on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. for further proceedings.

 As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
